Software Engineering at Google + Software Development at Amazon

This week, we interviewed Sriyathavan Srisathanantham: a successful intern who is currently doing Software Engineering at Google, and recently finished up an Amazon internship! Here are some highlights from his interview with us:

⁉️ Google Interview:

• The questions were purely DSA Based.

• They’re looking for a “curious learner” personality type.

• You’ll need leetcode skills - aim for 30 minutes or less for the medium questions.

• Google will ask a question, and then a follow-up optimization, which is even more important.

‼️ Amazon Interview:

• You’ll be tested on how well you fit the Amazon leadership principles.

• The behaviourals will be structured to see how you embody those principles.

• Technicals were leetcode with a 50%+ acceptance rate.

• There was no requirement to know any AWS specific tech or processes.

🤩 How to Stand Out:

• Work on building your network: referrals can make all the difference.

• Practice vocalizing your thought process and being able to explain complex problems.

• Sociability can be learned and improved, and it helps you stand out in an interview.

• Practice, practice, practice! Putting in the time to review and study the process helps to set you apart.
